Global Love Day, May 1, 2010

Come and get a little love in your heart!! It's Global Love Day on Saturday, and this year the Love Foundation are bringing lots of love into SL. The real life organisation was started 7 years ago to bring wisdom, peace and unconditional love to everyone all around the world and they have picked May 1 each year as a special day for everyone to join in. Now the residents of SL can go over to the special love sim on Saturday for a big party and celebration. The hosted 12 hour event starts at 12am to 12pm (SLT) (8am to 8pm (GMT)), so drop in whenever you can and have lots of fun. I met some of the organisers last night and had a great time, so I'll be back on Saturday to cover the event, see you there!

Grand Opening Of Aragon Ballroom Tonight

There is a grand opening of a wonderful new Ballroom tonight at Tropical Harmony. The Aragon Ballroom looks like the ideal place for that romantic evening and should be a fabulous attraction to this fast growing and very popular new sim. The evening starts at 6pm (PDT) and guest singer HammerFla will be treating everyone to a live performance. Be sure to put on your evening gowns and tuxes for this very special occasion.

Fantasy Faire Opens

One of the best things about SL are fantasy fashions and the designers can really go to town creating fabulous outfits for many characters from faeries to Mermaids, elves, Knights in armour and maidens, not to mention dragons and nekos. I got a notecard today from Evangeline Miles’ group ‘Evie’s Closet’ and she announced that the Fantasy Faire 2010 has opened. I love Evie’s Closet, Evangeline creates the most beautiful creations with her gowns and faerie outfits and I have quite a few in my inventory.

I teleported over to see the show and they are collecting money for the American Cancer Society, so if you go, give a generous donation too if you can. There are nine sims to visit all with top designers selling their fantasy designs, it’s an absolute must for role playing people and anyone who just wants some very well made and delightful costumes and skins.

As I looked at one of the shops called Mer-Elf Creations, I met the designer Morgaine Price, Morgaine told me that she had been designing for 2 years in SL, she makes the most exquisite fantasy clothes. She said that she has a sale on until Wednesday when her store is moving to a new location, so hurry over and look as soon as you can before her prices return to normal. Morgaine modelled a lovely medieval outfit for me, and then a gorgeous mermaid costume, she swooped and dived, flicking her gorgeous luminous blue mermaid’s tail as I tried to catch pictures of her.

Evie’s Closet had two special purchases for 50L and I quickly added them to my many other gowns by Evangeline. They were two medieval gowns, one in white and the other in black, and I can’t wait to wear them. I will go back and have another look around, time was limited today and there are so many shops to see there.

This is also part of the Relay for Life for 2010 and all the designers have worked hard on this wonderful Fantasy Faire to make it an outstanding event!

Look Out! He's Behind You!!

You have to have eyes in the back of your head at the Rohan, Post Apocalypse sim, you can smell the rotting flesh but you don't always see the zombies creeping up on you. I thought they would be other avatars role playing and would give up if I confronted them, but not these tough cookies, they are the living dead and keep coming at you! I escaped the first couple of corpses, but then got trapped by a pair of strange looking creatures with long brown tentacles that they reached out with, so you couldn't get away. I did get bitten by these guys and it was all getting nasty. Managing to slip under their outstretched limbs I continued on, this time drawing my sword in case I came across any other scary creatures of the night, and I'm glad I did. Suddenly another zombie loomed up in front of me, I raised my sword, crashing it down through his scull, but he continued to stand there and this time his brothers joined him, I was in the middle of a group of the glowing eyed horrors as I swung my sword at any one I could topple! I did manage to escape, (teleport does come in handy sometimes, hehe!).

Joking aside, this sim is great fun and the characters look really fearsome, if you want to confront your worst nightmares travel over and see the zombies, and don't forget to look behind you!

There's a Lot to See at Delestra Quest

I must admit I’m not very good at on-line games, but the wonderful imagination used to make sims more interesting by giving people goals is quite amazing. I went over to a site called Delestra Quest and there is certainly a lot to see there, even if you don’t join the quest itself.

Arriving in a castle greeting area, I was confronted by a very eerie cloaked figure who asked me to take the HUD so that I could join in the quest. What I liked about this was that there was no complicated meter to wear, just a simple Head’s Up Display that gave you clues. There are also constant references back to web pages where you can learn more.

I wandered around trying to find things, and was very struck with the detail of the sim, the interior of the castle and the lighting gave it a real atmosphere. The floating dockyard is a very unusual place and the boats harboured there are strange looking with orange sails. I travelled quickly through Delestra to see what was there and I need to go back to do the quest and find the objects along the way. I reached one place where molten lava pours along the landscape and I couldn’t figure out how to cross it without burning to death, cross it I did though and I was burned to death! (so the text told me!!). I reached an underground chamber and scurried down the stairs, once inside I wandered around in the dark little passages and got totally lost!! Well that’s just me, I am very challenged with going in the right direction even above ground!!

The description reads ‘Delestra is a dark sim with a secret. Explore the floating dockyard, gothic castle, temple, oriental village and deep labyrinth, talking to creatures and finding clues and artefacts as you go. Unravel the puzzles and Delestra's hidden secret will be yours.’

Have some fun and take your time to explore this fantastic sim, I cheated because I wanted to see it quickly, but with time to do it all properly it looks like a very good quest indeed.
