Jeepers Creepers For Horror Fun!

There are some brilliant Halloween sims in SL and one of the best thought out and detailed locations I have found is Jeepers Creepers at Calas Galadhon. Even the pumpkins heads have an extra streak of evil as you pass them by; they turn to glare menacingly at you as if they have a life of their own!

I went to explore Jeepers Creepers with friend Drax Ember and we set out through the cemetery with its ancient looking tombs. We didn’t get far before we were confronted by ghosts and ghouls appearing out of the mist. Zombies too joined in the chase as we tried to avoid their rotting hands reaching out for us! There is a creepy haunted house as you wander further up the hill and you have to be careful what you touch in there, as Drax found out! he ended up laying prone on the floor with a heavy chair smashed over his head! Be warned don’t look at the baby in the pram in the living room, it’s not a pretty sight! Worst of all for me were the giant spiders scuttling all over the floor! Back in the grounds again, we came a cropper with a bunch of vultures waiting to eat the flesh off of our bones!

There is much more to Jeepers Creepers than you first suspect, there are the caverns below the surface of the sim, which are full of hidden horrors! I thought I had seen giant spiders in the haunted house, but those were nothing compared to the ones waiting for me underground! eeek!! Drax even got caught in a web and struggled for ages trying to get free! I think the whole thing has had a devastating affect on him though, giving him a taste for human remains! As you can see by the main picture, he happily sat down to a banquet of brains and other nasty bits! Not me, I’m a vegetarian, I legged it out of there!

Celebrate Halloween at Art Box

Halloween will soon be upon us. Frankie Rockett and Violet Sweetwater of Art Box are celebrating the holiday by creating spooky sets where we can really get into the spirit. So far they have made two very different scenes.
The first set is inspired by the work of Russian artist Nikolai Fomin. He has produced artworks related to Russian folklore, including one called “Raven Wing Colour of Hair”. In this scene a young woman is seated in a nest; one raven feeds her and one pulls on her hair.
And what could possibly conjure up terror more effectively than the shower scene from “Psycho”? If you have ever wanted to be a star now is your chance to appear in one of the most iconic movie scenes of all time.

Flesh Eating Vultures and Corpse Love

I went on more haunted travels and ended up in a place called Looter's Ghost Town and Abandoned Mine, which is well worth a visit! I found two great, well grisly, I suppose, animations there. Two skeletons laying side by side, pictured above, were actually passing the rose back and forth between them, it was sort of very sad to watch and quite touching too!
Nearby were a couple of vultures and this was really gruesome, they had a little skeleton in front of them and one of the vultures was picking the remaining flesh off of it's bones. Halloween is certainly bringing out some creepy SL sights!

Ghostly Fun At Willow Grove

As Halloween is getting closer I decided to look around the grid for some haunted places and I liked the sound of one called Willow Grove Haunted House, so I teleported over and landed in a space just outside the building. I took the offered notecard which advised me that this was not a house that you walked around, it was a ride, and you had to rez a pumpkin car by clicking the sign.

After clicking, the pumpkin car arrived, and there was room to take a few friends too, as each car holds 5 avatars, I should imagine a crowd would have a lot of fun at Willow Grove. The ride was quite amazing, I have no idea how long it took the owners to build this maze of rooms that you go through, but there is a lot to it. Set your environment settings to midnight and sit back and be terrified. I won’t go into too much about what you will see, as it would spoil it, the same with the pictures that I have here, there is much, much more going on and it’s very blood thirsty indeed in parts. I thought I had reached Hell in one room and just about managed to cross it without the car catching on fire. The noises are scary too!! All in all, a well-done haunted house if you don’t mind too much blood and gore!

Lunatics in SL

I’ve always noticed changes in people’s behaviour based around the phases of the moon. It was a full moon on the 4th October and you could almost hear SL creaking with all the wacky people who roamed the sims looking for someone to vent their oddness on. The power of the moon affects the tides and the weather in real life and I’m sure it brings out the ‘lunacy’ in certain people both in the real world and the virtual one! It would seem that these poor souls are still feeling the effects, I went over to one of the SL stores yesterday, only to be confronted by a huge pink avatar who blew me a kiss as he arrived. As I didn’t run away, he did the usual bumping into me routine that some newbies love so much, then he went off, with me in hot pursuit. I was being a little bit wicked by going after him and he tried to get away. When I cornered him he gave up and teleported out in a puff of smoke. Not a word was said!

Then later on, while I was dancing in the Underground Club, trying to relax after a long day, I noticed an avatar moving slowly round the edge of the dance floor. He had a mask over his face and a drawn dagger in his hand. His profile stated one word ‘Gangster’ and he came and stood menacingly behind reporter Ed Follet whose back was to him. Being SL no one took any notice and we all carried on, had this been real life there would have been something to worry about. This was another newbie (or maybe not, who can tell!) and another player bringing his madness to the fore.

As we have Halloween on the 31st October I expect a lot more strangeness in SL, so be prepared, anything can happen…….

Little Witch Prepares for Halloween

I felt like travelling around the grid a bit today and teleported over to a place with a few shops. I stood for a while and was then aware of a small figure who came and stood near to me. Suddenly I received a message from the little one who said “YAY Another Brit! :D”. I turned to face her and she was a tiny green witch with a pointed hat and cute face. “Hi Cerise, yes, lol” I said in agreement that I was indeed a Brit. ‘How are you?’ I asked, and Cerise told me that she had the flu and I told her that I had a cold too, but it couldn’t top her flu!! I wondered if witches could cast spells to get rid of colds and flu, but it seems even witches have to suffer.

Cerise told me that everyone called her Button or Brat (Cerise’s full name is Cerise Button!) and I asked how people treated her as the little green witch, she told me “I get trod on a lot....But I have a nastly bite. And a great lil wand that works wonders on nasties.” She told me that her wand casts spells and she had made it herself. Cerise had also made her green skin, and she had done a really good job with it too!

Cerise was very wise she told me she had already started preparing for Halloween. She said “I've got a month to prep my swamp for Halloween”. She asked if I wanted to go over and have a look and I agreed that I would love to.

Off we went to a sim full of shadows and ghostly things. Cerise said “My SL family own this Sim.” I could see lots of blood on the floor near the building next to us and Cerise told me “Which reminds me, I need to bring out my body under a sheet” she continued “Well I did tell my mom to clean up after the last guests we had here.” Cerise said that she had a big family, many brothers and sisters, and her mom likes to be a wolf and her dad likes to be an owl. She said “Well I look mostly like my uncle Bilbo who's a toad :P.” I suggested that Cerise was the same colour, only she would have less warts, “A lot less warts :P” she agreed!

Cerise, being a really mystical little witch had made herself a broomstick that really flies, she said she had not finished it yet, so I will find out later what else this clever broomstick will do!

Cerise greeted her Auntie Catface who was a little distance away from us, but Auntie Cat must have been away from her keyboard as she did not reply. I told Cerise I had to go and I’d really enjoyed meeting her. Cerise gave me a parting gift, the lovely green skin she had made!

Thank you for showing me around Cerise and also thank you for that skin. I’m sure Halloween will be very special with Cerise and her family having lots of fun!!
